  • Employs 5 artificial neurons connected to electrodes to treat multiple pain areas simultaneously

  • By overriding the pain signal with a “no pain” signal to the brain, it scrambles (recodes) the neurons, reducing the patient’s pain level to zero regardless of the initial pain intensity and type

  • The treatment protocol typically includes 10 consecutive sessions over two weeks

  • Each session is ~45 minutes each

  • Booster sessions are provided as needed

  • Use is restricted to physicians (MD/DO) or to other qualified health care professionals under the direct supervision of a physician

Your Patients Will Love Scrambler Therapy Too!

"For over 22 years, right hip pain plagued me due to Osteoarthritis. Medications like Norco® and a Fentanyl Patch left me sluggish and drugged. When the pain spread to my back and hands, meds weren't an option anymore. My doctor mentioned Scrambler Therapy®. After 6 months of waiting, I tried it. To my disbelief, the first treatment relieved my pain. My fingers went from claw like to functional, and life became manageable again. I restore antiques using my hands daily, and Scrambler Therapy® changed everything. Boosters make me feel even better. It's like a miracle—I've regained "ME." I cycle, ski, and live fully."

Gloria B. / Sandy, OR

"After my second session of Scrambler Therapy, I was at home and got up from a chair and got halfway across a room before I realized what I was doing. I Didn’t have any pain. I Didn’t struggle. I Didn’t grab my cane. I Didn’t think that was ever going to be possible again in my life.”

Tom / Portland, OR

"My chronic pain was so intense I lost my will to live. Over 30 doctors tried to alleviate the pain, but they could only provide slight, temporary relief. Over a two year timespan I went to over 350 medical visits, and had so many tests, injections, and nerve blocks I lost count. Then I learned of Scrambler Therapy. It sounded too good to be true given all the disappointments - I didn't believe there could be anything that could help. After 3 treatments I could walk normally again. By the end of the 10th treatment my pain was gone. Scrambler Therapy treatments, quite literally, saved my life."

Connor C. / McKinney, TX

“Had no hope of getting relief from the diabetic neuropathy in my feet. Now the pain,

burning and sensitivity is gone. Amazing.”

Bill / Portland, OR

"I felt so hopeless and helpless with my daughters chronic pain that was leaving her debilitated. Every option seemed worse than the next…surgery…possible addiction…drugs that would reduce her ability to live her life normally. We refused them all and we’re determined to grind it out with PT in hopes the pain would subside. We heard about scrambler therapy around 8 months into her ordeal. I was all for it…she was not. She was understandably afraid of it making her worse and also of me having paid the cost of it and it not working. Finally she agreed to at least give it a try. At first it really didn’t seem to be her answer. She experienced some relief, but it was minimal and short lived. We were encouraged by the stories of others success however so we decided to stick it out a while longer. On day nine while on the machine my daughter looked up and said that her pain was a “zero”. We got in the car to go home…both emotional. She looked me in the eye and said “it’s gone”. Chills ran down my spine. “What do you mean” I asked. “I mean it’s gone Mom. It’s not coming back.” She was right; it was gone and it has not come back. Scrambler therapy was nothing short of a miracle treatment for my daughter. There isn’t a day that goes by that I am not grateful for her having her life back pain free."

Why Scrambler Therapy® Is The Innovation Your Patients Deserve

July 08, 20247 min read

Watching your patients endure chronic pain day after day is heart-wrenching, especially when the treatment options feel as painful as the problem itself. The struggle to find a safe, effective solution can be overwhelming. But what if there was a way to offer real relief without invasive procedures or addictive medications or invasive surgeries? Learn more about how an innovative option is changing lives and could be the breakthrough your patients desperately deserve.

What is Scrambler Therapy® and How Does it Work?

Scrambler Therapy® (ST) is an innovative treatment for chronic neuropathic pain. Chronic pain typically stems from maladaptive nerve signaling, where damaged nerves continuously send pain signals to the brain. This creates a feedback loop that equates to constant pain within the body. Our treatment deliberately disrupts that cycle by transmitting synthetic "non-pain" information through C-fibers.

During the therapy, surface electrodes are strategically placed on the skin around the pain area. These electrodes emit low-frequency electrical signals that mimic the nerve impulses of healthy, pain-free nerves. This new input modulates the activity of dorsal horn neurons in the spinal cord, which are responsible for transmitting pain signals to the brain. By altering the synaptic input to these neurons, the therapy reduces the perception of pain.

Scrambler Therapy's® long-term effects are thanks to neuroplasticity, which encourages the nervous system to adapt and reduce persistent pain signals by forming new neural connections

This approach directly addresses the abnormal pain pathways at their source, providing a non-invasive, risk-free, drug-free solution for treating chronic pain. It's a solution that works like no other, promising newfound relief by targeting the pain at a neurological level.

The Process and What Patients Can Expect

When preparing patients for Scrambler Therapy®, understanding their journey and ensuring they feel supported can't be understated. Many patients seeking this therapy have endured chronic pain for years, desperately trying everything without true relief. We’re giving them all-new hope, and guiding them through the therapy’s process with empathy and clarity is just one of the small ways that can make things easier for them.

Before starting, it's important to review any medications the patient is currently taking. Certain drugs, such as anticonvulsants, antidepressants, and neuroleptics (examples: Lyrica or Gabapentin), can interfere with the effectiveness of treatment. Patients should work closely with you to safely adjust their medication schedule, as some medications may take a week or more to wean off. This preparation ensures the best possible outcome from the therapy.

Patients should wear comfortable, accessible clothing to sessions. For the lower back, legs, and feet, recommend shorts or skirts and a T-shirt. A short-sleeve shirt is ideal for shoulders, arms, and hands. For the stomach, chest, and back, suggest a shirt or tank top that allows easy access to the treatment areas. This helps facilitate the placement of electrodes and ensures a smooth session.

A full treatment of Scrambler Therapy® is an average of ten sessions over a two-week time frame. Some patients may only need a few sessions, and other patients may need more. Each session typically lasts about 45 minutes, during which the patient is seated or lying down comfortably. They may feel a mild tingling or buzzing sensation, indicating that the therapy is working to retrain their nerves. This sensation is usually well-tolerated and not painful. The 45 minutes per session will be enough time to discuss their pain specifics. This is important for the initial consultation, but every step of the way as well. Questions like "Where are you feeling the pain?" and "Where is the pain most intense?" help map out the treatment plan. It's important to note that the pain might seem to shift between sessions as the therapy progresses; this is a normal part of the treatment process.

Patients often start to notice improvements after just one session! Some may experience relief immediately, while others may see gradual progress over the course of the treatment.

What Conditions Does ST Treat?

Scrambler Therapy® works best for conditions where the nerves are affected. Some of the more common conditions are:

How Does ST Differ from Traditional Pain Management?

Traditional pain management techniques have been the cornerstone of patient care for decades, but they continue to fall short of providing deep, lasting relief. Patients suffering from chronic pain deserve more innovative solutions that address their needs without the risks, low effective rates, long wait lists, and intolerable side effects. That's why Scrambler Therapy® was created. It offers a compassionate and effective alternative that fills the gaps in conventional methods by getting to the root of the pain and delivering unmatched, long-term relief for those who need it the most.

Medications

Traditional pain management relies on heavy prescription medications, such as opioids and anti-inflammatory drugs. These treatments can provide short-term relief but come with considerable risks, including addiction, tolerance, and a host of side effects. This doesn’t even touch on the financial savings when you consider the ongoing costs of these prescriptions. On the other hand, our treatment is a totally drug-free approach that avoids these issues by directly targeting the nerve signals that cause pain, retraining the brain to perceive these signals as non-painful.

TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation)

TENS is another common treatment that uses electrical stimulation to block pain signals before they reach the brain. While TENS can offer temporary relief, it does not address the underlying pain pathways. Our treatment differs by sending synthetic "non-pain" signals through C-fibers to reprogram the nervous system. It interrupts pain signals and promotes long-term changes in how the brain processes pain.

Invasive Procedures

Invasive procedures, such as surgery, nerve blocks or spinal cord stimulators, are also used in traditional pain management. These methods can be effective but often involve long waitlists, higher expenses, surgical risks and complications. Scrambler Therapy® is non-invasive and poses no risk to patients. It is affordable and achieves pain relief without the need for surgery by using surface electrodes to alter pain signal transmission at the neural level.

Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation

Physical therapy and rehabilitation are important components of traditional pain management, focusing on improving function and mobility. While beneficial to some, these methods will not provide adequate pain relief for those with severe neuropathic conditions. Our treatment can properly relieve the nerve pain, allowing patients to engage more fully in rehabilitation exercises and improving their overall fitness and mobility outcomes, especially if the pain has kept the patient sedentary for quite some time.

Patients deserve treatments that not only alleviate pain but also restore their quality of life. Scrambler Therapy® represents a transformative approach, offering hope and real relief for those who have exhausted traditional methods.

Why This Innovation is Essential for Patient Care

Every day, doctors witness chronic pain's debilitating impact on their patients' lives. The desperation in a patient's eyes, the stories of sleepless nights, and the struggle to perform simple daily tasks are heart-wrenching. Traditional pain management methods, while helpful, are notorious for falling short, leaving patients in a cycle of bandaid relief and never-ending pain.

This innovative treatment fills the gap. It provides accessible, unparalleled pain relief for patients who have tried countless treatments only to find that this therapy finally brings them the peace they deserve.

With your help, these same patients can return to the activities they love and spend more time with the people they love. You can help restore hope, dignity, and the possibility of a future where pain no longer dictates their lives.

Doctors, just like you, dedicate their careers to improving the lives of their patients. Embracing our treatment is an extension of that commitment, offering a transformative solution that aligns with the core mission of compassionate patient care. By integrating this therapy into your practice, doctors can provide pain relief that truly makes a difference.
